Jose Antonio Sanchez

I’m a husband, dad, researcher, and professor. I’m always working on something. I grew up in Los Angeles, and a lot of what I do comes from trying to make sense of the environments I grew up in. Today, I study community violence, gangs, and criminal networks, focusing on what actually works to reduce harm in real communities. I’m an assistant professor at Texas Christian University and co-host The Criminology Academy Podcast, where we talk to criminologists about their work. Outside of that, I’m with my family, behind a camera, under the hood of a car, or building something piece by piece, step by step. I’m usually figuring things out as I go and pushing them a little further.

The Sanchez Project

The Sanchez Project is where all of that comes together. It’s a place for the work I do, the things I’m building, and everything I’m learning along the way. You can see my research, follow my progress with my projects, and read my musings and thoughts here.
